Atelier Maus featured in Muuuz magazine | Design & Craftsmanship

It is a great source of pride for our workshop: the famous architecture and design magazine Muuuz has dedicated an article to our work and creative philosophy in its section reserved for exceptional designers.

Under the title “Atelier Maus: a craftsmanship of matter”, the Muuuz editorial team highlights the uniqueness of our creations and the special dialogue we weave daily between the strength of steel and the finesse of natural stone.

What the Muuuz editorial team noted

The article emphasizes the special alchemy that takes place in the heart of our workshop in the Tarn region :

  • The transformation of steel: Often perceived as rigid or cold, carbon steel reveals unexpected depths—from deep black, verdigris, copper tones, to bronze reflections—under thermal patina, chemical oxidation, or metallic powders.

  • The mineral poetry of stone: Dark slates, crystalline micas, or veined marbles... Worked in extremely fine layers, our stone sheets reveal their translucency under the influence of light, unveiling the memory of the rock.

  • The spirit of slow design: Muuuz highlights our roots at the crossroads of Bauhaus, brutalism (for constructive honesty), and Wabi-Sabi (for the beauty of noble imperfection). Each wall sconce, pendant, and table lamp is praised as a genuine handmade sculptural light.

“In this process, time regains its true value. (...) Each lighting fixture is handmade, making every piece a unique creation. A singular work where light serves not only to illuminate a volume, but to reveal its atmosphere.”
